Duke of Gloucester opens centre
Apr 27, 2010, 12:14 GMT
Britain's Prince Richard opened a technology centre in Cheshire yesterday (26.04.10).
The Duke of Gloucester - who is 19th in line to the throne - was on hand to cut the ribbon at the opening of new headquarters for the flooring manufacturer Flowcrete, which is planning to take on an extra 20 to 30 staff over the next two years.
Managing director Mark Greaves said the completion of the £1.5 million scheme meant a group of portable buildings which staff had been using can now be removed to allow for expansion of the neighbouring factory.
He said: "We have been growing rapidly not just overseas but also within the UK, where turnover has increased from less than £5 million 10 years ago to over £20 million today. But our previous headquarters building was of 19th century construction and was falling down. We were only really using it for meetings. Now the new building has been completed, we can begin work on expanding the factory over the next two years."
