Prince Charles aide arrested
Apr 27, 2010, 12:12 GMT
A former aide to Britain's Prince Charles was arrested yesterday (26.04.10).
The 49-year-old man - who worked for Charles at the Foundation for Integrated Health - was taken into custody on suspicion of fraud and money-laundering, following an inquiry into an unaccounted for £300,000.
According to Scotland Yard, the aide was arrested in a morning raid at his North-West London home along with a 54-year-old woman.
The charity - of which Charles is president - campaigns for wider use of alternative therapies in the NHS and has received £1 million of taxpayer money.
Financial irregularities were spotted when auditors queried account transactions.
This also meant the charity missed their deadline for filing in the required documents to the Charity Commission - the non-ministerial government department that regulates registered charities - by five months.
It incurred a £750 fine because of the delay and faces a further penalty of £1,500 by the end of this month.
The prince is said to be aware that the money is missing and is being kept informed of the investigation.
