Princess Beatrice's races to marathon finish
Apr 26, 2010, 12:01 GMT
Britain's Princess Beatrice became the first royal to run the London Marathon yesterday (25.04.10).
The 21-year-old princess - who completed the 26.2 mile course with 34 friends in a human caterpillar - set a new world record for the most people to finish a marathon whilst tied together.
The group, which included Richard Branson's children Sam and Holly, as well as Beatrice's boyfriend Dave Clark, wore lime green tutus and matching fluorescent legwarmers over their running outfits and managed to complete the course in five hours and 13 minutes.
The royal - who is fifth in line to the throne - was congratulated by her proud parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, at the finish line.
The duchess even admitted that she might take part in the exhausting course next year.
She said: "For so long I've been trying to get her fit and now she's showing me up today. I've just decided that if she's such a good role-model to me then next year I'm going to do it."
Princess Beatrice was raising money for her mother's charity, Children in Crisis.
