Princess Diana's affair rumours
Apr 19, 2010, 12:01 GMT
Britain's Princess Diana reportedly had an affair with Robert Palmer.
The princess - who died alongside her lover Dodi Al Fayed in a Paris car crash in 1997 - allegedly had a fling with the late singer, which is thought to have inspired his 1988 hit 'Simply Irresistible'.
A friend of Robert - who died in Paris in 2003 of a sudden heart attack - posted comments on a website, which has since been removed, claiming Diana was very much "in love" with the star.
The friend wrote on iamundercover.com: "It was an extramarital affair that could have hurt a lot of people. Diana was in love with Robert and wanted to spend every second with him.
"The affair was the final straw in Diana's marriage to Charles. Two years later they divorced."
Robert's widow, Mary Ambrose - who was with him when the affair is said to be have taken place - has closed her page on Facebook following the allegations.
The singer's former manager Mick Cater has since dubbed the claims "total and utter rubbish".
He added: "He never even met Princess Diana. Whoever's written it is lying."
