Camilla breaks leg
Apr 9, 2010, 12:13 GMT
Britain's Duchess of Cornwall has broken her leg.
The 62-year-old royal - wife of Prince Charles, fell into a rabbit hole while out walking in Scotland and has suffered a twisted fracture of the left fibula, a thin bone close to the ankle.
A statement from Clarence House read: "While out walking in slippery conditions on Wednesday the Duchess took a tumble and hurt her leg.
"Following doctor's advice yesterday she had an X-ray which showed a twisted fracture. She is wearing a plaster cast and will be for six weeks. She has been advised not to put weight on her leg.
"Her royal highness has every intention of carrying out all planned engagements."
The duchess and Charles are currently in their Scottish retreat at Birkhall - on the grounds of Queen Elizabeth's Balmoral estate - celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary today and is reported to be in good spirits.
An aide said: "Her attitude is that worse things happen and while it is a bit of a pain, life goes on and it's business as usual.
"Given what has happened she is remarkably cheerful and doesn't want to make a fuss."
