Britain's Prince William will be asked to help find the head of an indigenous warrior when he visits Australia.
The future king - son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana - will meet with several leaders in Sydney on Tuesday (19.01.10) and Michael Mundine of the Aboriginal Housing Company is hoping he will help their cause in recovering the remains of Pemulwuy.
He told The Australian: "I believe William has his mother's heart. He is from a different generation and, because he is young, I think he will understand that Pemulwuy needs to come home to his lands."
Michael said he will meet with the prince in disadvantaged, inner-city Redfern.
The indigenous warrior Pemulwuy - who was born around 1750 - opposed the British settlement and was described by Sydney's the- governor Philip King as "a terrible pest to the colony" but also "a brave and independent character".
He was shot dead in 1802 and his head was cut off, put in a jar and sent to England but its whereabouts still remain unknown.
