Britain's Prince Harry comforted five mothers who lost their sons in Afghanistan at an awards ceremony last night (15.12.09).
The 25-year-old royal - whose mother Princess Diana died when he was just 12 - presented the brave women with a Special Recognition honour at The Sun newspaper's Millie's Awards.
Harry - who fought in Afghanistan last year - told them: "Your story is truly humbling. To show such immense courage in the face of tragedy is beyond words."
The women - Deborah Simpson, Jane Whitehouse, Denise Harris, Carol Brackpool and Sharon Backhouse - have founded a charity Afghan Heroes to help other bereaved families and support frontline troops.
Of their charity, Harry told them: "As far as what you are doing with this courage - sending parcels to every single service man and woman in Afghanistan - I can tell you first hand what a difference it makes. It's not just what's inside that counts, it's also the knowledge people are thinking of you back home."
Harry's tribute left many of the star-studded audience at London's Imperial War Museum in tears.
