Lady Gaga entertains Queen
Dec 8, 2009, 11:02 GMT
Lady Gaga wanted to entertain Britain's Queen Elizabeth with a suicide stunt.
The singer insisted she didn't mind being forced to tone down her act when she performed 'Speechless' at the Royal Variety Performance in Blackpool yesterday (07.12.09) because she is such a fan of the monarch and her husband Prince Philip, who were guests of honour at the show.
She told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "I wanted to do the suicide scene but was told it wouldn't be appropriate. I've also had to tone things down generally.
"But it doesn't matter because I'm a massive fan of the queen - I was so excited and have even been practising my curtsy. When I first came up with what I was doing, I said, 'Oh my f**king God'. It's fabulous. I hope the queen likes it."
Instead of her 'suicide stunt' - which sees the singer pretend to stab herself and covered in fake blood - Lady Gaga, dressed in a red latex Elizabethan-style outfit performed at a 10ft high giant piano.
Other performers at the show included 'Bad Boys' singer Alexandra Burke, dance troupe Diversity and US teen sensation Miley Cyrus.
