Britain's Queen Elizabeth has raised eyebrows with a bold fashion statement.
The queen - who arrived in Trinidad and Tobago last Thursday (26.11.09) for a meeting with global leaders about the issue of climate change - made a fashion faux pas in a white lace dress.
The monarch has always been determined to offer personalised fashion statements which pay tribute to her hosts when she's on royal visits and the gesture is one which Commonwealth countries have come to expect.
In Trinidad and Tobago, she wore a white dress which featured two hand-embroidered birds, the Scarlet Ibis and the Cocrico, on the hem of the lace gown.
The choice of dress caused some raised eyebrows as it was a departure from her usually conservative outfits.
The Ibis is the national bird of Trinidad, while the Cocrico is Tobago's national bird.
The queen accessorised the white gown with a ruby and diamond necklace, as well as the wedding tiara which she wore when she married the Duke of Edinburgh in 1947.
