Britain's Prince Charles will switch-on the Christmas lights in Cumbria, it has been announced.
The Prince of Wales - who will join the BBC presenter Julia Bradbury to turn on Keswick's Christmas lights later today (27.11.09) - said he wanted to attend the ceremony to get the message out to visitors that Cumbria is "open for business" following the recent floods.
Charles will also visit Cockermouth residents the following day, to offer his support and see the damage caused by the floods from November 19.
Ian Stephens, the chief executive of Cumbria Tourism, said: "The Prince of Wales is a passionate supporter of Cumbria and tourism and has been instrumental in helping the area in the past.
"His endorsement and influence captures the nation's attention and I'm delighted that he is here again to help Cumbria get back to normality."
Charles has previously pledged his support to the victims and said he was "mortified" to hear about the flooding, which resulted in many being left homeless and isolated after water damaged properties and bridges.
He has also made a donation to the Cumbria Flood Recovery Fund.
