Princess Anne's charity appeal
Nov 23, 2009, 11:21 GMT
Britain's Princess Anne has appealed for celebrity support for her charity.
The princess has called for more help to be given to the Princess Royal Trust for Carers (PRTC) in order to boost awareness of the cause, which she says needs £6 million a year to run.
She said: "Most people will know someone in a caring role. The main thing is that they offer support to someone who is in a difficult position. Greater knowledge and offering financial support is crucial in making the system work.
"It is also great if celebrities with the right kind of knowledge get involved to help raise the profile."
The princess regularly visits specialist carers centres and says she finds the meetings "enormously encouraging."
She added to Britain's Hello! Magazine: "It is enormously encouraging to visit these centres. Many of them operate thanks to hard working people and you see how well they manage with very little. Awareness is crucial in making sure that the centres run efficiently."
