Spain's Crown Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia have been hailed as a "new breed" of royals.
The couple have been called a "charming" example of the new European monarchies, who are happy to mix with the public and be accessible to fans, by France's prestigious Paris Match magazine, which features the royal pair on its current cover.
The magazine says: "They are much more accessible than King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia," and thanks to her job as a journalist, "future queen of hearts" Letizia did not have to "wait to enter the royal family to be popular."
They have also been likened to Britain's Prince William and girlfriend Kate Middleton ,who met as students at university and also enjoy being part of public life.
The report added of younger European royals: "The modern princes and princesses have learned to demand their right to happiness and love, even though that might come to them in the form of a divorcee, a commoner or a single mother."
Last week, Princess Letizia - who has two children with Felipe, Leonor, four, and two-year-old Sofia - astounded fans by stepping out without her high heels on a day out in India.
Letizia, 37 - who was on a state visit to the country with her husband - swapped her legendary fashionable footwear for a pair of green snakeskin pumps.
The princess was then seen slipping off her shoes in accordance with royal custom as the couple paid tribute to Mahatmna Gandhi at his memorial in Delhi.
