Rare photos of Britain's late Queen Mother have been unearthed and published on the internet.
The pictures of the late Queen Elizabeth show her visiting the "new" Dounreay nuclear power plant in Scotland's Caithness 50 years ago.
The queen mother visited the site a number of times in 1957 and 1961 while she was staying at the Castle of Mey, just 20 miles away.
Her first tour of the nuclear station was when construction had just started at the site.
The photos are among 1,000 being posted on a new, online picture library on the Dounreay website today (02.11.09).
Their release coincides with the 50th anniversary of the nuclear reactor starting up in 1959.
Heritage officer James Gunn said: "The photo library will make an important contribution to preserving and communicating Dounreay's cultural heritage by allowing the public access to unique collections of photographs such as the queen's mother's visits."
The queen mother died in her sleep aged 101 in 2002 with her daughter, queen Elizabeth II by her side.
