Thailand's King Bhumibol is set to leave hospital.
The 81-year-old monarch has been receiving medical treatment for almost six weeks but his youngest daughter Princess Chulabhorn has reassured well-wishers that his condition is "much improved" and her family expect to welcome him home soon.
She said: "I wanted to tell everyone that the king's condition has significantly improved. I think soon he will regain his strength and return to the palace.
"He has no fever and is continuing to get physical therapy. He can stand up and walk with a walker. He practises walking every day."
The king was taken to Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital in mid-September with a lung infection and fever.
Rumours Bhumibol's health in is decline caused chaos in the Thai stock market earlier this month, with the stocks plummeting to their lowest levels in a year.
However, in a bid to quash the rumours, he made his first public appearance since he was admitted to the clinic and was seen being pushed in a wheelchair as he carried out religious ceremonies late last week.
