Jordan's Queen Rania has praised the internet for helping her keep in touch with friends.
The 39-year-old royal - who is known to be an avid fan of social networking websites - says she updates her Twitter account, Facebook profile, Youtube channel and her own website regularly because she believes it is the "simplest" way to communicate.
She said: "Social networks are the fastest, flattest, and simplest tools to connect with everyone, from new-found friends and former flatmates to favourite athletes and artists."
Rania is also grateful for how the internet allows her to chat freely with her followers without intimidating them.
She explained: "The Internet has made it easier for everyone to communicate with their fans and friends, whether you're a blossoming blogger or a seasoned politician. For people in my position, it helps demystify the title and clarify what it is I do and what it is that's important to me."
Meanwhile, Rania - who is married to Jordan's King Abdullah II - opened an orphanage in Wadi Seer, just outside the Jordanian capital of Amman yesterday (27.10.09).
The queen spent time chatting with youngsters at the Mathbet Dar Al Iman Orphanage and played games with 10 of them in the home's kindergarten.
Later, Rania spent time visiting several impoverished families - who are forced to cram up to 10 relatives into their homes constructed from scrap metal and plastic - to check on their living conditions and needs.
Following the visit, Queen Rania ordered the families to be moved into a more suitable home.
