Denmark's Queen Margrethe has denied claims she is set to abdicate.
A new book alleges the 69-year-old royal is set to become the first Danish monarch to give up the throne when she moves to France's Chateau de Cayx with her husband Prince Henrik.
But Head of Royal Communications Lene Balleby has refuted the claims, insisting: "There is no truth in this. There are no deliberations of that sort.
"The Royal Consort has no plans to move from Denmark. Already in connection with the Prince's 70th birthday he said that in the long term he would like to spend more time at Cayx. That is the development we are now seeing."
In his book 'Royale Rejser - bag kulisserne med de kongelige' ('Royal Travels - Behind the Scenes with the Monarchy'), journalist and royal expert John Lindskog said Margrethe will soon hand over her regal role to her son Crown Prince Frederik.
He claimed Henrik has suffered many health over the past couple years and has made no secret of his desire to retire to his homeland.
The book said: "A number of events appear to have pushed forward something the Queen has always been against but that certain circumstances seem to suggest she will nonetheless do - be the first Danish monarch to abdicate the throne."
