Camilla's doughnut anger
Jul 22, 2009, 11:00 GMT
Britain's Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, was once pelted with doughnuts, according to a new book.
Camilla - married to Prince Charles - was reportedly targeted by a group of angry shoppers when she went to her local supermarket over 10 years ago as they still blamed her for the breakdown in Charles' marriage to the late Princess Diana.
Journalist Chris Harte quotes an onlooker in his new book, 'The Recollections of a Sportswriter', as saying: "What actually happened was that she was pelted with doughnuts and it was in the Sainsbury's car park."
It had previously been claimed the duchess, then Camilla Parker Bowles, had had bread rolls thrown at her at the supermarket near her home in Wiltshire.
However, Clarence House has always denied this and when asked about the latest revelations, a spokesperson said: "Whether it was bread rolls or doughnuts, it's still not true."
Camilla - who married Charles in 2005 - was widely regarded as the main reason the future king's marriage to Diana broke down and while Charles did admit to having an affair with her he insisted it only happened once his relationship with the princess was beyond repair.
Diana - who died in a Paris car crash in 1997 - famously once said there were three people in her marriage - her, Charles and Camilla.

I'm just sorry I live in the U.S. and wasn't able to be in that Sainsbury in time to chuck some at her myself.
It was a myth.
Had it been true - very childish actions.

This urban myth has never had any credibility, and it is surely just as untrue today as it was years ago.
