Newcastle-bound Princess Eugenie
Jul 20, 2009, 11:00 GMT
Britain's Princess Eugenie is set to attend Newcastle University.
The 19-year-old royal - who is currently on a gap year, which has seen her go travelling with friends - will study English and History of Art at the college in the north east of England after visiting the campus.
Eugenie - who achieved two As and a B in her A Levels after studying at Wiltshire's Marlborough College - will start in September and locals are already looking forward to her arrival.
One said: "Once there was no way a royal would come studying up here, but the city has become posh these days. It's a sign of the times."
Last year, a student survey named Newcastle as the best city to live in, and it boasts a lively social scene, with hundreds of pubs, clubs and bars.
It was not known if Eugenie - daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson - will take up a place in halls of residence or rent privately.
Eugenie's sister Beatrice is currently studying at Goldsmith's College at the University of London, while her cousin Prince William attended St. Andrews University in Scotland.
