The Duchess of York was left shaken after being caught up in a real-life shooting incident.
Sarah Ferguson - ex-wife of Britain's Prince Andrew - had spent six months building a community centre in a run-down area of Manchester, England.
But just days after the centre was completed, it was shot at numerous times.
She revealed: "We turned up earlier this month and the place was riddled with bullet holes.
"Some idiots had decided to send a message. It was obviously a bit of a shock but you can't let these things stop you. We've got a desperate scrabble now to get the place repaired in time for opening next week."
Last month, it was revealed Sarah was moving to Manchester to live a "simple, working class life" for her new TV show 'The Sarah Ferguson Project'.
A source said: "Fergie reckons one of the big problems facing Britain is that we have lost that community spirit.
"People live on top of each other more now than ever, but we don't seem to know our neighbours or have anything to do with them.
"The plan is for Fergie to tackle the problems head on. She believes mums are at the heart of the community and it's from them that change will come.
"She will try to encourage women's groups and sports' days - but it will be a very touchy-feely approach."
UK viewers can see 'The Sarah Ferguson Project' on ITV later this year.
