Google pronounces Prince William dead
Jun 5, 2009, 11:01 GMT
Britain's Prince William is dead, according to Google.
The Internet company's new database Google Squared - which aims to gather facts and place them in one easily-accessed place - has mistakenly claimed the heir to the British throne passed away in 1972, 10 years before he was actually born.
Searchers using Google Squared to find information on Prince William yesterday (04.06.09) were told he was born on the correct date, June 21, 1982, but that he had died on "28 August 1972 (aged 30) Halfpenny Green, Wolverhampton".
William is not the only royal to be hit by a mistake on the new search engine.
His father Prince Charles - who will attend the D-day commemorations in France tomorrow (06.06.09) - was cited as being born on November 14, 1948 and dying on March 11, 1853.
It also claims Prince Michael of Kent was born on July 4 1942 - which is correct - but died on August 25 of the same year.
Although this would mean the still-living royal died aged seven weeks, he was seen in the accompanying picture sporting a bushy beard.
Other mistakes on the database include saying the average weight of a cat is 100kgs.
