In a country that criticises the USA about not having an 'equal distribution of $$' I say it is about time these royals behave in such a fashion that they don't NEED protection. GO out in groups, stay home, use common sense. Everyone in that country deserves to be protected as well as any member of that family. She is not his wife. She has no official duties. She works. let her pay for it. Why do the Brtitish taxpayers have to foot the bill for Will's girlfriend? It is crazy.
For a long time I have thought that if the Royals have wanted to have 'gap-years', or go out on the town, they should pay for their own security. Sometimes their general behaviour has drawn attention to them, thus making it obvious who exactly is out on the town.
Why is it presumed that Kate Middleton is in need of 'Royal Protection'? All at the cost of the British-Public. Why should the Prince be disappointed that his 'girlfriend' is losing a privilege? The woman herself should pay for her own security and not depend on the struggling British-Public to sustain her lifestyle. Apparently, KM works? Then perhaps she could foot the bill if she is worried?
No doubt KM will tow the line and fall into line to placate her boyfriend's Grandmother, Her Majesty, to ensure that ring lands on her finger, even without paid-protection. She should get that ring for stamina and staying-power. Rather like winning the Gold-Medal in the Olympics!!!
The gold-digger is not a member of the Royal Family and I hope to Heaven never becomes one. She should not have had police protection in the first place. The Monarchy will be in terrible shape if Ms. Middleton becomes Wills wife. I do hope that he comes to his senses and sees her for what she is and drops her like a hot potato. He could do so much better. It's time that the junior Royals start behaving in a way that they don't need this protection. I respect Zara and Peter. Princess Anne knew what she was doing when she declined titles for her children. They are respected and well behaved. Also, Lady Sara and Viscount Linley. It seems that it's only Harry, Beatrice and Eugenie that are the trouble-makers. Wills seems to have calmed down some. Keep him busy grooming him for his future role as King.
I am afraid that whatever Prince William does, either way, he is in for some unpleasant press, when it comes to Kate Middleton. I admit I was one of those women that felt very sorry for Kate when he broke up with her. I think people like me caused Prince William to go back to Miss Middleton so he would not lose his throne.
I,honestly, cannot fault Prince William for not wanting to lose his sceptor and throne. If I were him, I certainly wouldn't. I cannot blame Miss Middleton for wanting to be a future British queen.
Even we Americans, who love having no royalty of our own, can see the great benefit in being British Royalty. As for rich Hollywood's obsession with the Simon Cowells and Craig Fergusons, not mention the Rickie Gervaises(however you spell his name) of the world, I wish they would get over it.
Any citizen of a country who feels threatened should have police protection wheather Royalty or peasant. Kate's parents and grndparents have paid taxes so if she needs police protection she should have it. Every country in this world has wasted money on unnecessary things.
To guard one's life againt danger is alright.
I don't remember Princess Diana having 'Police-Protection' throughout her courtship with Prince William's Father Prince Charles. She lived in a flat, dealt with the press-intrusion up until she got engaged and then she moved into a 'protected area' of Royalty.
