Britain's Queen Elizabeth spent the Easter long weekend reading about her late mother.
The 83-year-old monarch enjoyed a quiet Easter break at Windsor Castle and reportedly spent much of her time reading the manuscript of a new biography of her mother, who died in 2002 aged 101.
The final draft of the book - which was written by the Queen Mother's official biographer William Shawcross - was delivered to Elizabeth in early April after months of delays.
The tome - which promises to reveal new information about the beloved royal - is now awaiting the queen's approval.
Shawcross was personally chosen by Elizabeth to document the life of her mother. He has spent the past five years reading the private correspondence of King George VI's widow in the archives at Windsor Castle.
Shawcross told Britain's Evening Standard newspaper: "It was the most wonderful assignment I've ever had. They had all these fantastic letters the Queen Mother wrote that I've been allowed to read from the age of 10 to 100.
"We learn what an extraordinary voice she had. She wrote very good letters. Not everyone can do that. They were joyful and sad at the same time. Even during the war she retained her sense of humour so I think the letters are the most interesting and the most vital new thing I discovered."
