Popular Princess Mary

Denmark's Crown Princess Mary is very popular.

After almost five years as Crown Princess, Mary is now the most popular member of the Danish royal family, according to a poll of over 23,000 respondents.

The Danish research firm Image-Leaved, who conducted the survey, also revealed Mary was the royal most participants would like to have as a neighbour.

The Australian-born wife of Crown Prince Frederik has always been popular with the people of Denmark and was recently voted Woman of the Year by a Danish magazine.

The 36-year-old royal - who met Frederik at a Sydney bar during the 2000 Olympic Games - is famous for her charity work including the Mary Foundation, which she established in 2007 to help disadvantaged people living in Denmark.

When she was won the prestigious magazine award, the princess said: "I have been on a challenging and exciting journey since becoming princess four years ago, and having my charity work recognised warms my heart."

Mary - who is rumoured to be in the early stages of her third pregnancy - donated her cash reward to charity.
