Britain's Princess Anne is to visit a youth motor racing project in Northern England.
The Princess Royal will see young drivers, mechanics and engineers from the Pit Stop 2000 project in action on January 23.
The scheme, based in Halifax, provides initiatives to motivate young people - often those who have poor academic records - to find employment and direction in life. The scheme has been running since 1996.
A spokesman for Pit Stop 2000 said: "One of the main aspects of the work is based around non-achievers, who need some direction and help with their futures after leaving school.
"We also enable young people from youth environments to participate and it helps divert them away from anti-social behaviour.
"The volunteer placements that we offer range from youth workers, engineers and mechanics to social, workers and housing officers"
The Pit Stop project has over 30 karts. Teams take part in racing events around the Yorkshire and Humberside region of England.
Meanwhile, Princess Anne was among royals who attended a service at the St Mary Magdalene church in Sandringham, East England yesterday (29.12.08).
Also attending the service were Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Prince William and Prince Edward.
