Prince William's engagement odds
Dec 24, 2008, 10:00 GMT
Britain's Prince William proposing to girlfriend Kate Middleton in 2009 has odds of 11/8, according to bookmakers William Hill.
The British public thinks the likelihood of the 26-year-old royal - who has been dating Kate since 2003, after the pair met at Scotland's University of St Andrews - asking the brunette beauty to marry him are very likely.
In September, it was claimed William will not get engaged to Kate for at least another 18 months, and would have to speak with several members of the royal family and the government before going down on one knee, according to a senior member of the Royal Household.
The source said: "There is a lot of planning involved in a royal engagement announcement of a member of the family as senior as Prince William.
"A number of high-profile people have to be informed formally, and the couple have to be introduced to the Prime Minister of the day, among others. All this takes time.
"As far as I am aware I cannot see there being an engagement between the prince and Miss. Middleton for at least 18 months."
William's hopeful marriage prospects are not the only ones in the royal family.
William Hill have revealed Prince Harry proposing to his Zimbabwe-born girlfriend Chelsy Davy has odds of 6/1, while Prince Andrew - who was previously married to Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York - getting engaged has odds of 50/1.
William Hill spokesperson Rupert Adams said: "Every year there are a couple of big odds winners from the bets!"

Oh PLEASE NO!!! Prince William should marry that do-nothing girl. She is a social climber who is maneuvering her way into the royal family through University. She has snubbed all her old friends. She and her sister Pippa only choose to socialise with blue blooded heirs and aristocrats.
DOWN WITH THE MONARCHY IF WAITY KATIE BECOMES A ROYAL!!!

Of course Waity Katie is patient. Prince William is incredibly hot, very rich and very famous. He is the 'catch' of a lifetime. She WILL wait to capture that royal prize!!!
My Bet is on Harry and the BEAUTIFUL Chelsy Davy!! Now there's a match made for life!
Harry & Chelsy for every!! There's now chasing waterfalls with that couple!! They give love to each other!! Don't go chasing waterfalls waity-kaity!!!!
Chelsy Davy is not attractive. She always looks like an unmade bed, and has nothing going for her except the long blonde hair. Imagine that face with short dark hair and then tell me that anyone would look twice at her on the street. As for Middleton, I'm beginning to think she should cut her losses and move on. She has actually proved that she would fit into the royal family perfectly well -- she's discreet and dignified, dresses beautifully, and has been willing to subordinate her life to the demands of being a royal girlfriend -- but if William isn't sure about her by now, he's not a good bet for the future. And who would want to marry into that family?

I am really annoyed with Prince William. While he used to symbolize a promising future for the Royal Family, he now appears to be a selfish boor.
Kate may be 'patient' because she obviously loves William, but it appears all William really wants is sex and a 'safe, discreet' mistress/party companion. Kate should cut him out of her life and move on.
