Britain's Prince William will help bring the 2018 soccer World Cup to England.
The Football Association (FA) - the governing body of soccer in England - said the prince is the perfect ambassador to bring the tournament to British soil.
FA chairman Lord Triesman said: "Prince William... He's going to be as involved as he can."
Triesman named soccer star David Beckham as co-ambassador.
He said: "When I first started to talk to people about this, one of the things people said was 'Get two or three famous footballers and send them around'. But these FIFA guys meet very famous footballers all the time. The footballers have to bring something else as well. David does and Prince William does."
England's multi-million pound 2006 bid to host the competition infamously failed after "gentlemen's agreements" saw Germany receive UEFA backing.
Triesman said: "Everybody has learned a lot from the 2006 campaign. We will run a very clean campaign. That is the only way to do it."
The location of the 2018 finals will be announced in December 2010.
