Britain's Prince Charles took part in some hand painting yesterday (24.11.08).
The royal was visiting Cottingley's Cornerstone project - a community group restored from a crumbling church as part of the Prince's Regeneration Trust - where he was invited to join in with the messy activity by 17-year-old Samantha Burns.
Agreeing to give it a go, Charles said: "As long as it comes off!"
Charles later dropped into nearby projects Sowerby Bridge Wharf - which is made up of restored historic canal buildings - before opening Eastbrook Hall, a building restored after a fire in 1996.
Earlier, the royal returned to a flood-ravaged steelworks.
The prince had visited Sheffield Forgemasters 18 months ago after torrential rain cost the company £16 million in damages.
On his return, the prince praised the 800-strong staff's efforts in getting the facility back in action.
Charles said: "I came back really because I know how important Forgemasters is not only to the local economy but also to the national economy, to the national effort."
The 60-year-old royal also commended the steelworks for ushering in young men from the community to learn the local trade.
He added: "It's so encouraging to see just how many apprentices there are coming from different schools in the area who are providing these quite remarkable skills for which this area has been famous for so many years.
"And the other great thing for me is to see how many families - fathers and sons - are working here. It's quite encouraging to know there is a hereditary Forgemasters business."
