Kate Middleton's charity plan
Sep 29, 2008, 11:00 GMT
Kate Middleton is reportedly working on a charity project with former 'Dynasty' star Emma Samms.
The 26-year-old - who is the girlfriend of Britain's Prince William - and Emma, who played Fallon Carrington Colby in the 80s US soap opera, are set to help organise lavish Christmas parties for 10,000 sick and terminally ill children.
Kate, whose parents run a gift company called Party Pieces, and Emma, who founded the Starlight children's foundation which aims to improve the lives of seriously ill children and their families, are joining forces to provide goodie bags, entertainment and decorations for 200 parties which are planned across Britain in December.
Emma told Britain's The Mail on Sunday newspaper: "I find it terribly exciting that there are going to be 10,000 children who will get party bags and parties this Christmas, thanks to Party Pieces. We are extremely thrilled, as you can imagine.
"They will be supplying us with all of the decorations and toys to play with, and the children are all going to get party bags.
"I am looking forward to meeting up with Kate soon to thank her properly for what she has done for Starlight. It is such a huge donation. What a great thing they are doing - and what a great change it will make to these kids."
Kate became interested in working with Starlight after she attended a charity boxing event in aid of the foundation.
Sarah Dawson, the foundation's director of corporate fundraising, said: "Our relationship is still in the early stages and I will be liaising directly with Kate. She will be putting everything together for us, from the pantomime that goes on to the paper cups.
"It's amazing and fantastic what they are doing to transform the children's time in hospital. There is no money involved. We are thrilled as they are a lovely company and everything they do will appeal to the children."
