Britain's Princess Anne will open the Carlisle Carers Resource Centre when she visits the Cumbrian city next month.

The 57-year-old royal, who is President of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, will open the centre at the Fusehill Medical Centre on March 5, when she will also chat with carers, trustees, funders and various members of staff.

Princess Anne will also meet five young carers, who took part in the Children's Fund's Legacy project and were involved in a sketch based on quiz show ?Who Wants To Be a Millionaire' to highlight the problem of bullying in schools around the nation.

Following their meeting, the carers will give a short presentation on the project, entitled ?Changing Minds, Changing Cultures - Creating 21st Century Services for Children and Young People'.

During her visit, the princess will also unveil a plaque and sign the visitors' book to commemorate her visit.

Accompanied by James Cropper, the Lord Lieutenant of Cumbria, and his wife Susan, Princess Anne will then meet Keith Adams, the Chairman of Carlisle Carers Association, Dawn Kenyon, the manager, and trustee board members Lynn Brisco, Annette Atkinson, Bill Ward and Angela Cameron.

She will also meet the High Sheriff of Cumbria, Claire Hensman, and her husband Peter.
