Prince Albert of Monaco has stunned the principality's residents by revealing he wants to introduce a congestion charge.
Albert is currently in London, where Mayor Ken Livingstone introduced the controversial driving charge in February 2003, and he believes it is something the tax-free Monaco must consider to help ease traffic.
He is quoted in Britain's Daily Mail newspaper as saying: "We are studying the possibility of introducing the charge in Monaco during weekdays because traffic is becoming a serious problem.
The London congestion charge currently applies to central London, where drivers have to pay £8 a day to enter the city.
Albert - who is currently dating South African-born swimmer Charlene Wittstock - also wants motor racing to become carbon neutral.
He revealed: "I would like Formula One management to take the lead on running sports cars on alternative energies."
The Monaco Grand Prix is still the most glamorous date on the racing calendar attracting big names from the celebrity and sporting worlds.
