Zara Phillip's sporting trump
Aug 16, 2007, 12:30 GMT
Britain's Zara Phillips has trumped her England rugby star boyfriend in the sporting stakes.
The 26-year-old equestrian champion currently holds the world and European eventing titles, while her boyfriend, Mike Tindall, has failed to make the squad for England's World Cup campaign in France next month.
Friends of the Gloucester rugby player - who was in England's triumphant World Cup side in 2003 - have been quick to point out that he is no longer as successful as his girlfriend.
An insider told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "Mike and Zara took great pride in the fact they're both world champions in their respective sports.
"Now, even if England overcome the odds and successfully defend their title, Mike won't be involved and will have to come to term with being an ex-world champion - unlike his girlfriend who remains very much at the top of her sport."
The couple - who have been dating for three and a half years - reportedly became secretly engaged at Christmas, but don't plan to wed until Zara has competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
