Zara fine after fall
Jun 11, 2007, 13:20 GMT
Britain's Zara Phillips insists "she is fine" after suffering an horrific fall from her horse at the weekend.
The equestrian champion was hurled from her horse as she tried to jump a seven-foot barrier at the Bramham International Horse Trials in Wetherby, North Yorkshire.
She is quoted in Britain's Daily Mail newspaper as saying: "I'm fine - it wasn't as bad as it looked. The horse caught the fence with her feet, stumbled over it and she nose-dived. I tumbled off. I'm sore and stiff all over but not at all hurt.
"Nothing's broken and I feel fine."
Crowds watched in horror as Zara landed heavily on the side of her head, forcing her neck to twist at an unnatural angle.
Miraculously, the 26-year-old royal quickly got back on her feet unscathed.
Despite her lucky escape, Zara and her horse Tsunami II were forced to withdraw from the competition and will now travel to Germany in preparation for another event.
The royal was less fortunate back in 2004 when a fall at an event in Dorset left her unconscious.
