Britain's Princess Anne has officially opened Nottingham's revamped Old Market Square.
The princess visited the city this week to unveil a plaque commemorating the occasion before attending a special tea dance at the Council House.
The event marked the end of two weeks celebrating completion of the renovation, and was attended by some residents who were present back in 1929 when the then Prince of Wales - later to become King Edward VIII- opened the square.
Work on the Old Market Square included the removal of walls and steps and other aspects of the 1929 design to be replaced by granite flagstones, seating terraces, flowerbeds, trees and a water terrace.
The Princess Royal was invited to plant the final flowers in the Old Market Square and also opened the University of Nottingham's new veterinary school at its Sutton Bonington campus during her visit to the area.
