Princess Anne's Camilla role
Mar 13, 2007, 14:10 GMT
Britain's Princess Anne will step into Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall's shoes to present an award on Friday (16.03.07).
The princess has agreed to present the prestigious Gold Cup at this week's Cheltenham Festival - the most important date on the national horse racing calendar - while Camilla recovers after her recent hysterectomy surgery.
An insider told Britain's The Independent newspaper: "It's certainly a bit of a relief for the organisers. At one point it was just going to be Tote Chairman Peter Jones doing the honours, which wouldn't have made the most glamorous photos for the next day."
Princess Anne, known also as the Princess Royal, is also set to hand over a trophy to the winner of the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham tomorrow (14.03.07).
Camilla, the wife of Prince Charles, has been forced to bow out of such events following her operation last week.
Royal aides confirmed the surgery was "routine" and was not cancer related.
She is expected to spend around six weeks recuperating.
