Britain's Zara Phillips has confessed she hated winning the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award last year.
The 25-year-old equestrian champion - the daughter of Princess Anne - was glad to have got recognition for the sport, but revealed she didn't like the personal attention.
Zara told Britain's Guardian newspaper: "It was fantastic to be recognised. It's great for the sport but I hate things like that.
"I hate awards. It's not my favourite thing to do. I like performing. I don't like standing there.
"Don't get me wrong, it was fantastic, a nice shock. I hadn't prepared myself to win, that's why I was so shocked when we won.
"When it's a public vote, it's an amazing thing when you win."
Zara - who gained a reputation for being rebellious after getting her tongue pierced - did accept that being in the public eye came with being a royal.
She said: "It's stupid to say that I don't like being in the public eye but I don't like doing stuff that's not needed.
"It's annoying but I have to get on with it. It's not going to go away. I just have to do what I need to do."
