Kate's police escort
Jan 5, 2007, 13:10 GMT
Kate Middleton, the girlfriend of Britain's Prince William, received a police escort to work yesterday (04.01.07).
The 24-year-old brunette was greeted by two officers guarding the door to her Chelsea house in West London and another pair patrolling the nearby streets.
Kate then drove to clothing company Jigsaw's Kew headquarters - where she works as an assistant accessories buyer - in her VW golf followed by another two officers in a patrol car.
It has been suggested that this latest development is another indication that the couple plan to wed, as Kate is not officially entitled to police protection until she becomes engaged to William - who she has been dating for four years.
Another reason for the increased security is the growing pack of photographers camping outside Kate's home.
A source told Britain's Daily Mail newspaper: "She understands that there will be a certain amount of interest in what she does.
"But she and William have seriously discussed their concerns about her personal safety."
