Britain's Prince Charles is to unveil a memorial for the victims of Bali bombings in London today (12.10.06).
The Prince of Wales will be accompanied by his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, for the ceremony remembering the 202 who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on the popular resort of Kuta, on October 12, 2002.
The sculpture - a marble globe featuring 202 individually carved doves - was commissioned by the Bali Bombings Victims' Group and will be situated at Clive Steps opposite St James' Park.
The names of the 28 Britons killed in the attacks are inscribed on a wall behind the globe.
Those closest to the tragic victims have praised Charles for his passionate involvement with the memorial.
Jenny Record, who lost her brother Pete in the atrocity, said: "He has always attended the memorials, he has been hugely supportive. It means a lot that he and his wife will be there.
"It has been an arduous couple of years, but the memorial will be worth it. It is very important when you have lost someone in such dreadful circumstances that there is somewhere to go. Obviously, we remember them every day, but for the general public, maybe they will stop and think about terrorism."
Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett, Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell and representatives from all 21 nationalities of the victims will also attend the ceremony.
