Anne Saves the Children
Oct 11, 2006, 14:58 GMT
Britain's Princess Anne will present the Save the Children Awards in London tonight (11.10.06).
The Princess Royal has been the president of the charity, which helps impoverished and abused children around the world, since 1970.
The annual awards ceremony recognises staff and sponsors of the charity, as well as paying tribute to hundreds of volunteers.
The ceremony - held at South Africa House - will be followed by a reception, where the royal will meet the winners and the charity's biggest benefactors.
Anne has been passionately involved with the organisation's work since taking presidency.
In the last 36 years she has travelled around the world highlighting the causes of Save the Children and pioneering their work in the fields of children's rights and aid work.
Meanwhile, Anne officially opened Britain's first purpose-built nuclear research and development centre yesterday (10.10.06).
The £3.5 million site in Caithness, Scotland, will also be used for nuclear clean-up tests and trials.
