Prince Charles and wife to visit Pakistan later this month
Oct 5, 2006, 14:15 GMT
London - Britain's Prince Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, will visit Pakistan on a week-long tour at the end of this month, Clarence House in London confirmed Thursday.
Charles, 57, and the former Camilla Parker Bowles will travel to the capital Islamabad, and tour areas devastated by last year's earthquake.
It will be the first visit to Pakistan by both the Prince, heir to the British throne, and the Duchess.
The main aim of the royal tour was to support the breadth of the partnership between the UK and Pakistan and highlighting the countries' shared heritage, officials said.
Specific themes would include inter-faith, education and youth entrepreneurship, as well as sustainable development.
Charles and Camilla will be in Pakistan from Sunday October 29 to Friday November 3.
It will be their third joint overseas trip since they married in April, 2005. The couple have visited the US and made a trip to India, Saudi-Arabia and Egypt in March of this year.
