Royals attend The History Boys premiere

Britain's Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, attended the royal premiere of 'The History Boys' yesterday (02.10.06).The royal couple - both dressed formally for the occasion - waved to the crowd as they attended the screening in London's West End, held in honour of Charles' charity The Prince's Trust.The movie - adapted from a play by Alan Bennett - follows a group of school boys as they prepare for entrance exams to Oxford and Cambridge University.Charles and Camilla met with the stars of the film - who also formed the original stage cast - including 'Harry Potter' actor Richard Griffiths.The play - which opened at the National Theatre in 2004 - has received numerous awards, including six Tony Awards for its successful run on New York's Broadway.As he was going into the cinema Charles asked journalists: "Have you seen the play? It's very funny."Bennet - who also wrote 'The Madness of King George' - said: "Charles is very good to have in the audience because he laughs very loudly, which gets everybody else laughing."The royal premiere also featured the screening of The Prince's Trust's first television advert. The charity offers support and opportunities to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.Carol Homden, the Trust's commercial director, said: "Our advert reflects the cycle of drugs, homelessness and crime that too many young people currently face."We hope our campaign will help change public perception of how young people can follow a better path if they are given support."
