Burrell attacks Hasselhoff
Oct 2, 2006, 15:18 GMT
Paul Burrell, the former butler of Britain's late Princess Diana, has attacked David Hasselhoff for claiming the princess was attracted to him.
The former 'Baywatch' star makes the claim in his new autobiography 'Making Waves'.
At the London launch of the book, Hasselhoff said: "She was smitten with me since I was so tall. I was smitten with her since she was so tall. But she was married and so was I. I probably would have gone after her if circumstances had been different."
However, Burrell, who is promoting his second book of memoirs about the princess 'The Way We Were', claims Diana laughed at signed pictures sent to her by Hasselhoff.
The former servant told US newspaper the New York Daily News: "There was never, ever any hint of any date or romance between the two of them. Such a suggestion is as far-fetched as a talking car called K.I.T.T."
Burrell said the 'Knightrider' actor had sent signed 'Baywatch' merchandise to Diana's son's, Princes William and Harry, who were revealed to be fans of the show after it emerged William had a 'Baywatch' poster above his bed at boarding school.
The butler laughed: "The signed photo was of him in his Baywatch pose - all trunks and hairy chest. And I remember the princess laughing hysterically at the photo and turning her nose up."
