Britain's Prince Charles has caused outrage with his plans to convert a historic chapel into an office.
Charles reportedly wants to turn the 13th century chapel of St Denis into a "studio office", as part of his plans for a 900-acre estate in Herefordshire.
The royal has already been granted council permission to build the multi-million Harewood estate, reportedly being built for his sons Princes William and Harry, which will lie between Ross-on-Wye and Hereford.
However, officials were stunned when the heir-to-the-throne asked if he could tamper with the historic chapel.
A source told Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper: "Charles is asking Herefordshire council to allow the little chapel of St Denis on the estate to be converted into the so-called studio office."
If Charles is granted permission, he will be responsible for re-installing new facilities and lighting systems in the poorly-preserved building.
The source added: "Kitchen facilities, toilets and a new heating and lighting system would be installed in the chapel if the application is granted."
Charles has, on several occasions, denied that the grand estate is being built for his sons.
A Clarence House source said: "It's positive rural regeneration."
