Zara Phillips is hot favourite to win Britain's Sports Personality of the Year Award for 2006.
The odds on Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter winning the award have fallen from 3/1 to 9/4, putting the keen horse rider head to head with Scottish tennis player Andy Murray to scoop the prestigious award.
Zara, the daughter of Princess Anne, could cost bookmakers £1 million if she is named Sports Personality of the Year, due to the massive fall in her odds. The 25-year-old royal is already European individual and team champion and won gold at the weekend when she competed at the World Equestrian Games, in Aachen, Germany. Zara now hopes to compete in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. She was set to represent Britain at the 2004 Athens Olympics but her horse, Toytown, was injured and she was unable to compete. The blonde royal has been getting up at 6am everyday for the last few years to train.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
