Beatrice praises mother
Aug 8, 2006, 13:59 GMT
Britain's Princess Beatrice says she wants to follow in her mother's footsteps.
The princess, who turns 18 today (08.08.06), paid tribute to the Duchess of York when she accompanied her on a tour of a London cancer hospital.
The visit was Beatrice's first official charity engagement and was filmed for a TV programme to mark her coming of age. She said: 'I see myself as a mini-Mummy. 'I want to build on what Mummy is establishing and go forward into the new generation and get the word out there. 'I kind of have this image that anything Mummy can do, I want to do better. 'She is the best advice-giver I could possible ever wish for. She leads by example and her behaviour is one that I'd really like to follow.' Sarah Ferguson, who is patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust, appeared to be moved by her daughter's kind words. She said: 'It's a hugely wonderful thing to say, but you do everything better than me.' Beatrice spent over an hour chatting with patients during her tour of the Young People's Unit at University College Hospital in London. When asked about the title Her Royal Highness, which at 18 she is now entitled to use, she said: 'I don't want any of that I'm just Beatrice.'Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
