Zara's Olympic bid
Aug 8, 2006, 13:59 GMT
Britain's Zara Phillips took part in horse trials on Sunday (06.08.06) to try and convince selectors to keep her in the national Olympic team.
The daughter of Princess Anne looked relaxed despite facing tough competition at the event, held on her mother's Gatcombe Park estate, Gloucestershire.
Zara giggled as she shared a joke with her father and trainer, Captain Mark Phillips, ahead of the dressage section of the competition. Her older brother Peter Phillips also showed up to give his younger sister support and brought his Canadian-born girlfriend Autumn Kelly along with him. The weekend meeting was just the beginning of Zara's gruelling training programme, as she strives to earn the right to represent her country in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The 24-year-old has been getting up at 6am everyday for the last few years to train. She is already Individual and Team European champion and is due to take part in the World Equestrian Games, in Aachen, Germany, later this month.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
