William join's Hewitt's regiment
Aug 2, 2006, 15:41 GMT
Britain's Prince William has shocked friends by asking to join the Life Guards - the regiment of his late mother's lover James Hewitt.
The 24-year-old heir to the throne made the astonishing decision when he was asked to nominate four regiments he would like to join when he passes out in December.
A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: 'The decision is a surprise, particularly as the Life Guards was the regiment where his mother, Princess Diana's old flame James Hewitt famously served.' Hewitt, 48, was a Captain in the Life Guards when he embarked on a five-year love affair with Diana in 1987. After her death, Hewitt revealed intimate details about the relationship in a book called 'Princess In Love'. William's father Prince Charles is reportedly furious about his son's decision. A source said: 'Prince Charles is unlikely to be impressed. Hewitt betrayed William's mother and tried to sell her love letters for millions of pounds.' However, the fact that Hewitt served in the regiment for 17 years, is irrelevant to the prince. The source added: 'William knows the regiment's name stands for bravery and prestige.' The Life Guards make up the Household Cavalry along with the Blues and Royals - Prince Harry's regiment. William will find out if he can join the regiment in November. If he is successful, both princes will be based at barracks in Kensington, London.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International

B : it was hewitts old regiment
Charles shouldn't be so furious after all he did do the ultimate insult to William by marrying his longtime Ho on the side Camilla. What good slap deserves another. I say Pos Que Bueno for William.
Sorry, I meant to say one good slap deserves another. You can't just add insult to injury as Charles did when he obviously got totally wasted and then married that hag Camilla. Hey Charles beer goggles only last so long old chap. I am sure Charles would expect some sort of retaliation from the boys. That just goes without saying.
P.S. William I am so proud of you. You are proving to show that you have a strapping pair of cajones. Good show babydoll!
Love Ya,
Lydia
