Queen's environmental toilets
Aug 1, 2006, 15:12 GMT
Britain's Queen Elizabeth has had water saving devices fitted in the toilets at Windsor Castle to help fight her country's water crisis.
Four of the green gadgets, which cost £20, were fitted in the castle in March and more have now been ordered.
Inventor of the Interflush cisterns, ex-taxi driver David Wilks, told Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper: 'We have had more orders from Windsor Castle, for which four were bought back in March. 'A while ago, Prince Philip, who is known to be blunt with his words, said someone ought to come up with a device to save on the nine litres it takes every time you want to have a pee. I don't know if they have been told to fit them, or if it's an employee who took the initiative.' Meanwhile, a film about Queen Elizabeth is being screened at the Venice Film Festival this year. 'The Queen', which follows the British Monarchy's response to the public grief over Diana's death, is one of 21 films vying for the Golden Lion award next month.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
