Harry's reckless driving
Jul 31, 2006, 13:02 GMT
Britain's Prince Harry has come under fire from worried mums for driving like a 'boy racer'.
The 21-year-old royal has upset parents on his army base in Bovington, Dorset, by continually driving over the speed limit in his sporty black Audi A3 coupe.
Local resident Sandra McGhee told Britain's The Sun newspaper: 'He drives around the barracks like a maniac. There are a lot of children around here who are worried for their safety. 'The boy needs to slow down before he has a serious accident and ends up injuring himself, or worse, someone else. 'A number of the mums got together to speak with senior officers and they have promised to get it sorted. Just because he is a royal he shouldn't get away with being reckless.' Another concerned resident said he saw Harry doing 60mph on a 30mph road. The prince has been on a four-month tank commanders' course at Bovington since he graduated from Sandhurst Military Academy in April. Harry's reckless driving has also infuriated locals in the near-by village of Shaggs, where he rented a cottage for a holiday with girlfriend Chelsy Davy. A shop worker said: 'You can hear him before he gets here. Harry drives like a lunatic. He loves to show off.' A Clarence House spokesman said: 'We are not aware of any complaints.'Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
