William's bargain buy
Jul 28, 2006, 14:58 GMT
Britain's Prince William has bought a T-shirt from a supermarket for £1.
The heir to the throne visited a Tesco supermarket near Folkestone, England, with his army colleagues on Wednesday (26.07.06) evening.
As well as buying provisions for a barbecue, Prince William purchased a red crew necked T-shirt from the supermarket's value range. The shirt was originally £2 but was on sale for half-price. Despite being in uniform, the prince was soon recognised by staff in the shop and one of the young, female cashiers allegedly fainted on seeing him. William had spent the day with other officer cadets training at a nearby coastal firing range. One shopper told Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper: 'They looked like they had had a hard day on the firing range and wanted a change of clothes. 'They were getting themselves set up for a good night. Prince William had obviously been slogging it out on the firing range all day - and it had been over 30 degrees so he wasn't looking as dapper as usual.' The prince's younger brother Harry was also seen shopping in a branch of the Tesco supermarket chain earlier this month after a polo match.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
