Queen Elizabeth II's birthday concert
Jul 20, 2006, 14:50 GMT
Britain's Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 80th birthday with a spectacular concert last night (19.07.06).
The event - attended by 6,000 guests - saw performances from a number of recognised British music stars.
The highlight of the extravaganza - held at the Royal Albert Hall in London - was a breath-taking performance by Welsh baritone Bryn Terfel. The opera talent was honoured on the night with the prestigious Queen's Medal for Music 2006 award. The monarch was also treated to a beautiful performance of 'A Little Birthday Music' - sung by 250 children, selected from top youth choirs. The concert is latest in the line of events to mark the monarch's landmark jubilee. Elizabeth was born on April 21, but her official birthday is marked on June 3, and this year the celebrations have continued into the summer.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
